An Egyptian Tale

The Royal Couple
Long ago in ancient Egypt, there lived a wise king named Osiris and his beloved wife, the goddess Isis. Osiris had gentle brown eyes and wore a golden crown with tall feathers. His skin was warm like the desert sand, and he always smiled kindly at his people.
Isis was beautiful and magical, with long black hair that shimmered like the night sky. She wore flowing robes of blue and gold, and had a special crown shaped like a throne. Together, they ruled Egypt with love and fairness, making the land green and prosperous.
Brother's Jealousy
Osiris had a brother named Set, who had red hair and always wore a frown. Set was jealous because the people loved Osiris so much, and he wished he could be king instead. Set wasn't mean or scary - he was just very, very jealous, like when a child wants their sibling's favorite toy.
One day, Set came up with a plan. 'I'll play a trick on my brother,' he thought. 'Maybe then everyone will pay attention to me instead.' Set didn't want to hurt anyone - he just wanted to be special too.
The Magic Box
Set made a beautiful wooden box decorated with gold and jewels. It sparkled in the sunlight and was the most gorgeous box anyone had ever seen. He brought it to the palace during a celebration and announced, 'I have a wonderful gift! Whoever fits perfectly in this box can keep it!'
Everyone at the party was excited to try the magnificent box. Set had made it exactly the right size for Osiris, though no one knew that was his plan. When Osiris lay down in the box to try it, Set quickly - but gently - closed the lid and sent the box floating down the great river Nile.
Isis Begins Her Search
When Isis discovered that Osiris was gone, her heart filled with worry and love. She knew she had to find her husband and bring him home safely. 'I will search everywhere until I find him,' she said with determination. Her love for Osiris was stronger than any magic.
Isis put on her traveling cloak and began her journey. She asked every person she met, 'Have you seen a beautiful box floating on the river?' She searched high and low, from the great pyramids to the smallest villages, never giving up hope that she would find her beloved Osiris.
Following the Clues
Isis was very clever and knew how to use her magical powers to help her search. She could transform into a beautiful bird with golden feathers, soaring high above the river to look for the box. She could also speak to all the animals, who became her helpful friends.
The fish in the river told her, 'Yes, we saw a golden box float by!' The birds in the sky chirped, 'It went that way, toward the distant land!' Even the crocodiles, who were gentle in this magical time, pointed their snouts downstream to show her the direction. Everyone wanted to help Isis because they could see how much she loved Osiris.
The Box is Found
After searching for many days, Isis finally found the box! It had floated far down the river and gotten caught in the roots of a great tree by the water's edge. The tree had grown around the box, protecting it with its strong branches and leaves.
Isis gently asked the tree, 'Please, dear tree, may I have my husband back?' The tree, moved by her love and kindness, slowly opened its roots and branches. There was the beautiful box, safe and sound, still sparkling with gold and jewels just as Set had made it.
Love's Magic
When Isis opened the box, she found Osiris sleeping peacefully inside, just as if he were taking a long nap. He looked exactly the same as when he left, because the magical box had kept him safe. Isis leaned down and gently kissed his forehead, whispering words of love.
Her powerful magic, made stronger by her deep love and devotion, began to work. Golden light surrounded them both as Isis sang a beautiful song. Her love was so pure and strong that it could heal anything and bring back what was lost. This was the greatest magic of all - the magic of true love.
Together Again
Osiris opened his eyes and smiled at his beloved wife. 'Isis!' he said happily. 'I knew you would find me.' They embraced joyfully by the river, their love shining brighter than the Egyptian sun. Even Set, when he learned how much trouble his trick had caused, felt sorry and asked for forgiveness.
Isis and Osiris returned home to their people, who celebrated with great joy. From that day forward, everyone remembered Isis's devotion and cleverness, and how love can overcome any challenge. The land of Egypt was peaceful and happy once more, and the royal couple ruled with even greater wisdom and kindness than before.
