Two Sisters

Two Sisters

Long ago in the green kingdom of Daha, there lived two princesses. Candra Kirana was the younger sister — kind and gentle, with a smile that made everyone around her happy.

Her older sister, Dewi Galuh, was clever and proud. The two sisters played together in the palace gardens, chasing butterflies and splashing in the fountains.

One day, a handsome prince named Inu came to visit from a faraway kingdom. He saw Candra Kirana's kindness and fell in love at once. "Will you marry me?" he asked. And Candra Kirana said yes.

But when Dewi Galuh heard the news, her heart turned cold with jealousy.

The Wicked Spell

The Wicked Spell

Dewi Galuh went deep into the forest to find an old witch who lived among the twisted trees.

"I will pay you well," whispered Galuh. "Make my sister disappear."

The witch cackled and rubbed her gnarled hands together. She crept to the riverbank where Candra Kirana liked to walk alone.

With a flash of green light and a hiss of dark magic, the witch turned the princess into a tiny golden snail! Poor Candra Kirana felt her arms and legs shrink away as a shimmering golden shell grew around her.

The witch tossed the little snail into the river, and the current carried it far, far away.

The Widow's Catch

The Widow's Catch

Down the river, in a small village called Dadapan, there lived a poor old widow named Mbok Rondo. Every morning she cast her fishing net into the river, hoping to catch enough fish for her supper.

Most days she caught nothing at all.

But this morning, something glinted in her net. It was a tiny snail with the most beautiful golden shell she had ever seen. It glowed like a little piece of sunshine.

"Oh my," whispered Mbok Rondo, cupping it gently in her wrinkled hands. "You are the loveliest thing I've ever found. I'll take you home and keep you safe."

She placed the golden snail in a clay jar by her window, where it caught the light.

The Mysterious Meals

The Mysterious Meals

Something strange began to happen in Mbok Rondo's little house.

Every evening when she came home from fishing, the house was sparkling clean. The floor was swept, the dishes were washed, and on the table sat the most delicious meal she had ever smelled — rice with spiced vegetables, warm soup, and sweet cakes.

"Who is doing this?" she wondered, looking around. But there was no one there. Just the golden snail, sitting quietly in its jar.

This happened the next day. And the next. And the next.

Mbok Rondo was grateful, but she was also very, very curious.

The Secret Revealed

The Secret Revealed

One morning, Mbok Rondo pretended to leave for the river. But instead, she tiptoed back and peeked through her window.

What she saw made her gasp.

A beautiful young woman was stepping out of the golden snail shell! She had long black hair and wore a glowing golden dress. She moved gracefully around the kitchen, humming softly as she cooked rice and swept the floor.

Mbok Rondo's heart pounded. She knew she had to act quickly — before the princess could slip back inside her shell.

She burst through the door, grabbed the empty golden shell, and smashed it on the ground!

The shell broke into a thousand glittering pieces. The spell was broken forever.

A Princess and a Mother

A Princess and a Mother

Candra Kirana fell to her knees, tears streaming down her face. She was free!

"Thank you," she whispered. "Thank you for breaking the curse."

She told Mbok Rondo everything — about her sister's jealousy, the wicked witch, and the terrible spell that had trapped her inside the golden shell.

Mbok Rondo wrapped her arms around the princess. "You are safe now, child. You can stay with me as long as you like."

From that day on, they lived together like mother and daughter. Candra Kirana cooked and cleaned — not because of a curse, but because she loved the kind old woman who had saved her.

The Prince's Search

The Prince's Search

Far away, Prince Inu had been searching for Candra Kirana for a very long time. He walked through forests, crossed rivers, and climbed mountains, asking everyone he met if they had seen his beloved princess.

A large black crow followed him everywhere, cawing and pointing the wrong way. "Go north!" it seemed to say. "Go east!" But every direction led nowhere.

The crow was really the witch in disguise, trying to keep the prince lost forever.

One day, Prince Inu shared his last bit of food with a wise old man sitting by the road. The old man smiled and said, "That crow is lying to you. Your princess is in Dadapan village. Follow the river south."

Prince Inu thanked him and ran toward the river.

Together Again

Together Again

When Prince Inu reached Mbok Rondo's little house and saw Candra Kirana standing in the doorway, he could hardly believe his eyes.

"I found you!" he cried, rushing to hold her hands. "I never stopped looking."

Candra Kirana smiled through her tears. "I never stopped waiting."

They returned to the kingdom together, and everyone learned the truth about Dewi Galuh's terrible trick. The jealous sister ran away into the forest and was never seen again.

Prince Inu and Candra Kirana were married at last. And kind Mbok Rondo? She was given the finest room in the palace and treated as family — because the greatest treasure of all is a generous heart.
