The Missing Hammer

The Missing Hammer

Thor the thunder god woke up one bright morning in his golden hall. He stretched his mighty arms and reached for his magical hammer, Mjolnir, which always slept beside his bed. But when his hand touched only empty space, Thor's eyes grew wide with surprise.

"Where is my hammer?" Thor called out, his voice echoing through the halls of Asgard. He searched under his bed, behind his chair, and even in the kitchen. Poor Thor looked everywhere, but his precious hammer was nowhere to be found!

Loki's Discovery

Loki's Discovery

Thor's friend Loki, who was clever and quick, offered to help solve the mystery. Loki could change into different shapes, so he transformed into a beautiful falcon with shimmering feathers. He soared high above the nine realms, searching for clues about the missing hammer.

After flying for hours, Loki discovered something shocking. In the land of the giants, he found Thrym, the giant king, sitting on a throne and bragging loudly to his friends about stealing Thor's hammer!

Thrym's Demand

Thrym's Demand

Loki flew back to Asgard as fast as his falcon wings could carry him. He told Thor what he had learned: "The giant king Thrym has your hammer, my friend. But he says he will only give it back if the beautiful goddess Freya agrees to marry him!"

Thor scratched his red beard thoughtfully. This was quite a problem! Freya would never agree to marry the giant king. But without his hammer, Thor couldn't protect Asgard from storms and danger. They needed to think of a clever plan.

A Silly Plan

A Silly Plan

Suddenly, Loki's eyes sparkled with mischief. "I have an idea!" he said with a grin. "What if you dress up as a bride and pretend to be Freya? The giants have never seen her up close. We could trick Thrym into giving back your hammer!"

Thor's face turned as red as his beard. "Me? In a wedding dress?" But as he thought about it more, Thor began to smile. It was such a silly idea that it just might work!

The Disguise

The Disguise

With much giggling and adjusting, Loki helped Thor put on a beautiful white wedding dress with flowing sleeves. They placed a delicate veil over Thor's red hair and hung sparkling jewelry around his neck. Loki even painted Thor's nails a pretty pink color!

When they were finished, Thor looked in the mirror and couldn't help but laugh. "I look quite lovely!" he said in his deepest voice, which made them both giggle even more. Loki decided to dress as a bridesmaid to help with the plan.

The Wedding Feast

The Wedding Feast

Thor and Loki traveled to the land of the giants, where Thrym had prepared a grand wedding feast. The giant king was so excited to meet his bride that he didn't look too closely at "Freya." Tables were piled high with delicious food, and all the giants were dressed in their finest clothes.

Thrym welcomed them warmly and invited "Freya" to sit beside him at the head table. Thor tried his best to walk gracefully in his wedding dress, though he took much bigger steps than most brides!

A Very Hungry Bride

A Very Hungry Bride

The feast began, and Thor was very hungry from all their traveling. He ate eight whole fish, a full roasted ox, and dozens of honey cakes! The giants stared in amazement as "Freya" gobbled up enough food for ten people.

Thrym looked puzzled and asked, "Why is the bride so hungry?" Quick-thinking Loki replied, "Oh, dear Freya has been so excited about this wedding that she hasn't eaten in eight days!" The giants nodded and smiled, thinking this made perfect sense.

The Hammer Returns

The Hammer Returns

When it came time for the wedding ceremony, Thrym called for Thor's hammer to bless the marriage, as was the custom. "Bring forth Mjolnir to make this wedding official!" he announced proudly. The moment the hammer was placed in "Freya's" hands, Thor threw off his veil and laughed with joy.

"I am Thor!" he declared happily, "And I've come for my hammer!" The giants were so surprised and impressed by the clever trick that they laughed and cheered. Thrym admitted it was the best wedding prank he'd ever seen, and he and Thor became good friends. Thor flew home with his hammer, and everyone lived happily ever after!
